Welcome to the Microscale Biocomplexity Laboratory

Cells have the remarkable ability to respond to complex features of the extracellular environment. Our laboratory focuses on how cells recognize such signals, leading to both fundamental understanding of cells as microscale machines and strategies for directing cellular function. Current studies examine how the micro-/nano-scale dynamics of protein presentation, including lateral mobility along cellular membranes and resistance to mechanical forces, drive intracellular signaling. In addition, we are investigating how cells integrate multiple cues of the extracellular environment for intracellular signaling.
