Doctoral Students

Philip A. Brudnicki is a M.S.-to-Ph.D. track graduate student in the lab. He received his B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, focusing in Biomaterials, from Johns Hopkins University in 2010. Phil joined the lab in 2016 and is interested in developing biomaterials for the delivery of various minerals and factors that support tissue growth and repair, particularly in large bone defects.

Romare M. Antrobus is a M.S.-to-Ph.D. track graduate student in the lab. He received his B.A. in Biochemistry from Lawrence University in 2017. Romare joined the lab in 2017 and his current research focuses on biomaterial design for anterior cruciate ligament regeneration.

Hannah R. Childs is a M.S.-to-PhD track student in the lab. She graduated from Cornell University in the spring of 2018 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and is excited to continue her work in the field of biomaterials for drug delivery and interface tissue engineering applications.

Sang Won Lee is a M.S.-to-Ph.D. track student in the lab. He left Samsung BioLogics to join the lab in the Fall of 2018. He is currently working on multiple machine learning integrated coronavirus projects. His focus is on artificial intelligence design in the field of tissue and immune engineering. Sang Won is a co-inventor of the instance segmentation network Darwin’s Neural Network. He is also a co-inventor of neural network architecture used in the CoV-Scan application.

Ming (Michael) C. Chan is a M.S.-to-Ph.D. track student in the lab. He received his MSc degree in Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering from University College London in 2017 and MEng degree from University of Bath in 2016. Michael joined the lab in the Fall of 2018 and his current research focuses on biomaterial design for bone tissue regeneration.

Jessica Z. Liu is a M.S.-to-Ph.D. track student in the lab. She received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2019. She joined the lab in 2019 and is interested in developing biomaterials for interface tissue engineering applications.

Alexandra E. Fehnel is a Ph.D. track student in the lab. She received her A.B. in Biomedical Engineering and S.M. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University in 2019. She joined the lab in 2019 and is interested in developing biomaterials for tissue engineering applications.

Thomas Bina is a M.S.-to-Ph.D. track student in the lab. He received his B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State in 2020, joining the lab in spring 2021. He is interested in biomaterial development for tissue repair and regeneration.
